Affirming Our Commitment: SCSUF Response to the MOU Suspension
The South Carolina State University Foundation acknowledges the University’s decision to call a vote to terminate its Memorandum of Understanding. The Foundation emphasizes that this action is not related to any finding of fault, wrongdoing, or deficiencies in the Foundation’s governance, financial management, or performance.
For more than 50 years, the Foundation has successfully supported South Carolina State University by protecting donor intent, safeguarding charitable assets, and adhering to the highest fiduciary, audit, and regulatory standards. The absence of a formal MOU does not alter those responsibilities or the Foundation’s proven ability to operate independently and effectively.
The Foundation remains fully operational and financially sound. Donor funds remain secure, programs continue without interruption, and all planned activities are moving forward as scheduled, including the Foundation’s Gala on April 25 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Foundation remains open to constructive engagement with University leadership to address outstanding matters in a manner that reinforces transparency, accountability, and donor confidence. To further inform stakeholders, the Foundation will host a State of the Foundation Virtual Meeting on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Additional details will be shared directly with registered participants.
As this is an active governance and compliance matter, the Foundation will not offer further public comment at this time.
